Outstanding staff, who work very hard and are professional and friendly.
The staff in Constable Wing women’s outpatients (not maternity) were exceptional. I’m not a frequent service user luckily but I do work in health care and know the pressures the staff are under with shortages of all kinds. My experience was so positive, I was put completely at ease. The staff were all informative & knowledgeable, kind, & updated me throughout. They ensured my consent was given on more than one occasion prior to my procedure. Considering I’d not been looking forward to this appointment I really needn’t have worried. The care in this department was exemplary of how women’s health care should be provided. Thank you to the whole team.
Other patients being so unwell can make life difficult.
Fantastic staff friendly and approachable
I had to chase up the appointment as no contact had been made from the relevant department.
On the day of the appointment though everything was excellent. From the nurse in Outpatients to the nurse taking my elderly mother through to the consultant.
Appointment was on time no delay.
Keep up the great work!!
Excellent center
My mental health drained completely during my three day stay there. As a vegetarian I was not given an option for any of my meals and was completely disregarded when asking about any other options. Patients near me were in need of attention and were completely ignored. Multiple people on my ward were starved for days in a row as they were supposed to have an op and then didn’t. The staff made me feel like an annoyance and completely isolated. I was not involved in my care at all and no options were given to me, I was treated like my thoughts an opinions on my own care didn’t matter.
I had surgery for varicose veins. I have difficulty with needles and medical things generally. I shared this with the surgeon, Mr Mandal; I also told him I'd find it helpful to be introduced to the team in the operating theatre and to be told their names.
He agreed and was also happy to put up a 'curtain', so I didn't see the surgery being carried out. And a nurse was next to me and we talked through most of the treatment.
So, they acknowledged how I was feeling and were understanding and thoughtful. In the event it went ok.
I was admitted to MercerWard on December 20th and needed immediate surgery to remove 1metre of dead intestine. I don’t remember a lot about that part but my grandson said they were amazing and it was all so efficient and fast. I was in hospital until the 8th January, due to complications but I ca say that the treatment was exceptional all the way through my stay. The other thing that was great, was the food. It always arrived piping hot and beautifully served up. Although all the nurses were amazing, kind and dedicated there were two that stood out. One was Cyril who was an absolutely dedicated nurse and so kind and compassionate. What a lovely man! Also there was Emma, who was kindness itself and made me feel comfortable in difficult situations. Always cheery and helpful, bless her. One lovely young lady. So thank you to the staff on Mercer Ward and thankyou for your care. God bless you all.
My Admittance was quick and seen by nurses and doctors straight away
Made the whole experience less scary and all put my mind at ease
